Grateful Recipient – Crow River Swat

2019 Grant Recipient - Crow River SwatWe are happy to announce that Hutchinson Police Services is one of the 2019 Foundation grant recipients. Members of Hutchinson Police Services and the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office make up the Crow River SWAT Team, which is an emergency response to dangerous situations where the risk to law enforcement, the public and suspects is heightened. Deputy Matt Wyatt of the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office and Sergeant Eric Kilian of the Hutchinson Police Department explained the vital need that this grant is helping fund:

“This grant allows us to meet our medical needs and ensure lifesaving medical necessities are available to our team members when lives of law enforcement, members of the public, and suspects are at risk. We are relieved and appreciative that this need for our team will be met thanks to the generosity of the Foundation and its donors. Although the medical items we need are of real importance, there is always a challenge with funding items that we hopefully never have to use.

Not only does this grant benefit the Crow River SWAT Team, but it is necessary to keeping community members safe. With this new medical equipment, our team can initiate lifesaving efforts immediately (before the EMS can arrive) for anyone during high risk situations. Having a team that is properly equipped can mean the difference between life and death for those involved in the types of situations to which the Crow River SWAT Team responds.

In many cases, members of our community are first responders to local issues. When we keep healthcare local, we have better opportunities to build meaningful relationships with our healthcare providers resulting in more positive outcomes.”
